PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Tech Ten Basic was created to introduce high school freshmen and sophomores to the various program areas of Region Ten Tech. The students have the unique opportunity to learn skills in wood working, small engine assembly, MIG welding, and auto refinishing with industry related safety training based on OSHA standards. The Tech Ten Basic program runs twice a year, for one semester each. While the intent of the program is to provide specific career related skill sets and introduce the various programs at Region Ten Tech, students are not required to continue on to a full year program but may apply if they choose to do so. These fundamental skills would be useful to any student that has had little to no exposure on the safe and proper use of tools and equipment. Many of the soft and hard skills, once learned, can be translated directly to necessary and life-long skills.
